Eight is Great for Sam

Sam's birthday was April 4, the day after we arrived in Destin, Fl. We had all his presents for him and a birthday cake.
Sam is the best person to give presents to because he genuinely is so happy with whatever gift he receives and always thanks (without being reminded) the giver with a "thank you" and a big hug.

The week after we got home from Destin, Sam had a "friends" birthday party. Months ago when we began planning what type of theme Sam wanted for his birthday (go to a movie, play at Incredible Dave's, go to a Bat's game, etc.) he rejected all these ideas and said he just wanted all his friends to come over and play a game of football at the park across the street.

The treat bags.

Sam loved helping with all the football decor and loved that all the candy was "brown" football colors.

Of course Sam was the reciever to his brother Ben--the quarterback.

The huddle

The opposing team's huddle. Unfortunately, not all the party participants shared Sam's passion for football, and ended up playing on the swings and the play set with Molly.

Pizza, cake and ice cream after.

Every year since our oldest Meg turned one year old, Rusty has decorated their cakes to the birthday child's specifications. Rusty's latest masterpiece.

8 is great!!!

AHHHHH! I've only been gone a year and your kids have managed to get HUGE! Meg looks like a WOMAN and "little" Molly, oh Molly. We miss you guys. Anna still talks about how you and Molly watched her while I had Kate. You guys are awesome!
