Alicia's Wedding

A few weekends ago I went to Utah to attend Alicia Rose's wedding. One of my BFF's (as Meg puts it) in the world is Judy (Alicia's mom) and I was so excited to be a part of the weekend's festivities. Here we are at the rehearsal dinner at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
Ashlee (Alicia's twin), me, Alicia and Judy.
Judy's immediate family and her mom right after the ceremony.

The reception was held at La Caille Restaurant at the bottom of Big Cottonwood Canyon. The grounds were beautiful and the food was delicious.

Ashlee, Jennifer, Alicia and me.
I was fortunate to be Jennifer's young women's president for four years, and she has turned into the most amazing woman. We both have four year old daughters. . .it's awesome that we are kind of at the same place now.

Katie Moyes-something. I don't know her married name. She was also one of my talented young women many years ago and is pregnant with her second child.

Judy and Jerry
Favorite quote of the night--Rusty coming up to me as I was talking to someone, "Vicki, come quick, Judy's on the dance floor grinding all three of her sons-in-law." Funny thing, I wasn't the least bit shocked or surprised by that.
The bride and the father-of-the-bride crying during their "daddy/daughter dance."

She wasn't a young woman of mine, but she is the most darling BYU sophomore around. She's one of my other BFF's daughter. . .Katie Walton. Oh, and her mom is seriously the funniest person you have EVER met.

Two of my other BFF's (how many can you have?), Kristy and Darin Adams. We use to hang with them all the time when they lived in Louisville and now he's some famous TV personality in SLC and barely has the time of day for us. Darin is my secret weapon for all my talks at church, creative songs at family reunions, and anything else I have to come up with.
We had too much fun with everyone. I LOVED seeing people who use to live in Louisville. We were also lucky enough to spend a few hours with my family. We went to brunch with them one morning and I took a picture, but it got deleted when Sam was taking pictures of the dead frozen worm outside. He says he didn't but. . . I could upload the frozen dead worm. We also spent MANY hours shopping at every store that had BYU paraphernalia. We got something for everyone, and a few Christmas presents as well. Besides the wedding we also ate at our favorite Utah dine (and no, it's not Cafe Rio), the Training Table! And I don't care if you say "really?" Really, we LOVE it. Bleu Bacon Burger, Cheese Fries and a large Diet Coke, baby!

Week of School Prep and First Day

Goshen Elementary always has a "Meet the Teacher" night the Monday before school starts. We met Ben's teacher, Mr. Wallace and said "hi" to Sam's teacher Ms. Davis (he has the same teacher for 1st and 2nd grades). We also rented a U-Haul to take the LARGE amount of required school supplies. When we came home we had pizza night. We made individual pizzas and then had a fruit pizza for dessert.

Rusty showing off his pizza throwing skills and re-living his glory days from Pony Express Pizza. I always tell him, if the immigration lawyer thing doesn't work out he has the skills for a very lucrative fall-back career.

Sam meticulously places every shred of cheese.

Molly LOVING the flour.

Sam and Molly LOVING the flour so much that it got all over Rusty's suit coat (I say it's his own fault since he just hung it over the back of the chair and didn't hang it up).

Monkey see, monkey do.

Ms. Davis

This is another "let it go" moment for me. I would have NEVER chosen this outfit for the first day of school. Shorts that are really Ben's, and therefore too big, and a shirt with splattered red paint stained on it. Sam felt confident in his attire choice and that is all that matters.

Ben would not let me take a picture with him and Mr. Wallace. I guess fifth grade is the stopping point for this (sad).

These are all the kids in our cul-de-sac that ride the bus. There are four other kids Sam's age.

The bus.

Score. . .now the oldest in the school, Ben is allowed to sit in the very back seat.

This picture was taken a week before school started in front of Meg's locker. We registered her, got her picture taken for the yearbook, walked around and found all her classes, and learned how to do the locker combination. It was one of those days I will never forget. I LOVED just being with her and going through this experience with her.

Molly's Dance Class

As with every year, when fall rolls around all the kids begin their chosen "activities." To make my life even a little more chaotic, we let Molly begin ballet and tap dance this year. She takes lessons at the same school Meg attends, and even has Meg's ballet and jazz teacher, Ms. Mary Jane.

Molly and Eva right before the first class.

Ms. Mary Jane and Eva (this is for her mom. . .her camera was in the shop). Plus we love to have pictures of Eva to look at.

Warming up.
After class I was told that Molly pushed Eva. The next class, Molly pushed another girl. After a heart-to-heart with Molly, she told me it was because the two girls didn't listen and so she wanted to be in front of them. Unfortunately for Molly, Ms. Mary Jane didn't corroborate her story.
